April Schindler, M.D. is the founder and owner of Renown Psychiatry, PLLC. She possesses a holistic, grounded approach to the treatment of mental illness that has grown from her nontraditional path into medicine. Originally from Las Vegas, NV, she received a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy from University of Nevada Las Vegas. Upon completion of her undergraduate education, she began her professional career in real estate development, investments and construction. She was a general contractor for many years in Las Vegas, NV and specialized in remodeling homes. By working in such a dynamic field, she gleaned much about human behavior, motivation, lifestyles, and relationships. She has always loved creating and restoring beauty and value in what others may have deemed unsalvageable. It is this very passion for improving structure and function that attracted her to the field of medicine.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space height=”60px”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Dr. Schindler received her Doctor of Medicine from Loma Linda University School of Medicine in sunny southern California. She then came to Charlotte, NC for specialty training in psychiatry as a member of the inaugural residency class at Atrium Health’s Sandra and Leon Levine Psychiatry Residency Program. As Chief Resident, she helped form the training experience for future generations of psychiatric residents at Atrium.
In her practice of psychiatry, Dr. Schindler brings a fervent desire for restoration and total body wellness. She incorporates psychotherapeutic and evidenced based biologic interventions to treat a full spectrum of psychiatric disorders. She is committed to providing exceptional psychiatric care with special interests in addiction psychiatry, psychotic disorders, healthcare provider well-being, obesity medicine, and the interplay between inflammation and psychiatric disease. She emphasizes the benefits of physical, mental and spiritual well-being while simultaneously honoring the cultural background and relational experiences of the individual. Dr Paschall

Laura Paschall, MD is excited to join the Renown Psychiatry team to provide care to the Charlotte region. Dr. Paschall’s whole-person approach to mental health integrates therapeutic interventions and medication management to provide the highest quality of care. She seeks to connect with each patient on a human level, taking time to honor their lived experiences and working together to build a tailored plan to recovery.
Born and raised in North Carolinia, Dr. Paschall is a “double Tar Heel” receiving both her Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Doctor of Medicine from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. As a Morehead-Cain Scholar, she discovered a passion for medicine and advocacy while working internationally with burn victims in Bolivia and then developed her skills as an educator teaching middle school science to at-risk youth. She enjoys using these talents to help her patients gain a deeper understanding of their mental health and treatment options.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space height=”60px”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]While in medical school, she sought additional knowledge in the role of compassion in medicine by completing the Healer’s Art and Ethics & Humanism concentrations. She then moved to beautiful Charlotte for specialty training in psychiatry at Atrium Health’s Sanda & Leon Levine Psychiatry Residency Program. Selected by her peers as Chief Resident, she embraced the opportunity to advocate for her fellow residents and hone her skills in group communication and conflict resolution.
Inspired by both vulnerability and strength, Dr. Paschall is honored to join her patients on their journey to well-being. She is dedicated to finding the right combination of therapy, medications, and lifestyle changes to help each individual achieve holistic wellness. Her special interests in psychiatry include depression and anxiety disorders, ADHD, PTSD/trauma, psychotic disorders, and women’s mental health. She greatly enjoys helping patients navigate transitional periods in life including navigating young adulthood, career transitions, coping with grief/divorce, and physical health challenges.
