Most people tend to answer this question by defining mental health as an absence of the mental anguish they may be experiencing. Some may describe mental health as the absence of anxiety, depression, stress, labile moods, anger outbursts, addiction, broken relationships and sleeplessness. We are very good at labeling the parts of ourselves that cause us pain. As such, people often seek help from a mental health professional to relieve their mental and emotional suffering. They reach out for help in search of what seems like an elusive concept: mental health.
Most people have a unique view of what mental health looks like in their own life. Each person has individual opinions of what makes them feel happy, whole, fulfilled and well.
